Welcome to Helmets For Kids!
Helmets For Kids is an organization created by Mike Heikes to provide kids with bicycle helmets to help prevent brain injuries. Mike Heikes is Brain Injury Survivor himself and five-time cross-country bicyclist. Since the program was started in 1999, Mike has fitted and given away over 10,000 bicycle helmets to kids all across the country – most of them in Minnesota and North Dakota. Mike also speaks in schools, churches and organizations to tell everyone his story and how they can prevent a serious brain injury like his.
Finding Purpose
In Being A Brain Injury Survivor is an autobiography about one man’s journey from a severe brain injury to becoming a cross-country bicyclist and bicycle helmet advocate. |
